Lights, camera, action! It's time for
your McLane Parent Teacher Student Organization's (PTSO) 2017 theater
season! To afford a theater experience for as
many students as possible, we are offering two programs based on
grade levels—one for Lower Elementary Kindergarten-2nd
grade and one for Upper Elementary 3-5th
grade—kicking off first with our Lower Elementary production.
LOWER ELEMENTARY Thank you to everyone who made Sleeping Beauty Jr. a great success!
UPPER ELEMENTARY Again, partnering with TOAD (Theater of Arts Discipline) theater company, our Upper Elementary program provides musical theater education and a performance opportunity for 45 energetic, hardworking young actors in grades 3rd-5th. Artistic staff from TOAD will travel to McLane to audition, teach, and lead rehearsals for four weeks, culminating in two performances of a fabulous 60-minute musical. | Hello theater families!
Our production of Mulan Jr. is right around the corner! We start with auditions on Monday, March 5th, (same time as rehearsals 3:30pm - 5:30pm) and go until we end with our performances on March 29th and 30th. EVERYONE who registered is IN the show!
We are looking forward to working with your children! There is a lot of work ahead of us to put on an amazing production. Here are some guidelines that will need to be followed during the weeks of rehearsals: Be at every rehearsal. Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. Due to the early release on Wednesdays, rehearsal will be from 2:40 to 4:40pm(actors need to stay for the entire time). And a special rehearsal will be on Friday, March 9th also from 3:30 - 5:30pm. - Bring your script and a pencil to every rehearsal.
- Look over your script with your parents at home and practice your part.
- Bring a snack and some water; snacks will not be provided.
- Actors are expected to treat the production staff with respect. Rough housing and rude behavior will not be tolerated.
- Parents cannot observe rehearsals. Only signed up, cleared volunteers will be allowed in rehearsals.
- After rehearsals every day for safety reasons, parents/guardians need to come into the building to sign out your children at the end of rehearsal. Please wait patiently in the lobby for your child to be released to you. Children will ONLY be released to the adults listed on the registration form.
Also, if you have signed up to be on the theater committee, you will receive an email very soon as we need to get working on the raffle baskets and other items for the performances. If you would like to be on the theater committee, its not to late! Please send an email to president@mclaneptso.org if you would like to sign up.
No matter what role your child is cast in, EVERYONE is IMPORTANT! We will all strive to work together to have an AWESOME theater experience! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us at president@mclaneptso.org or secretary@mclaneptso.org.
Thank you all so much! We can't wait to get started!
